This paper describes and analyzes the case of a Vietnamese English language learner in a Canadian University. The data were collected through observations during five individual tutorials and interview questions. Then, they discussed from the language learning research perspectives. The findings reveal several language learning factors that influence the language learning process. This shows that language-learning process is a hard task that language teachers need to be aware of different factors in order to understand their students. It concludes that teachers need different lenses in order to have a clear vision and fully understand the language learning and teaching situations.
